Music
The music which will be used in my chosen genre of show which is a magazine talk show will feature a selection of music consisting of new hits to throwbacks, this will be played at the time of our show which is 7pm til 10pm when our audience are getting ready to go out This follows similar codes and conventions as it does when I looked at radio shows for example Big John at breakfast as although it is done as a breakfast genre it uses similar conventions which we would like to use in our radio program, he also uses Yorkshire dialect which is used in our radio program with one presenter having a regional dialect and another being commuted in Sheffield and having the strong accent which is more relatable to our listeners and region but also understandable to those who comment out and in of Sheffield for nights out out. We will feature 3 songs throughout our radio program with some trending songs which will get the audience in the mood to listen to our radio.
Presenters
The dialogue in our radio show between the characters has a peer to peer mode of address, which is well suited for our target audience using colloquial language to entice the audience to want to carry on listening, It features two female presenters of different dialects for example one being Yorkshire, this is also suited towards our audience as they will understand the accent and dialect most likely being a local radio show, making it more relatable. The other presenter with a ethnic background which shows the difference in dialect when spoken and will also make the radio show more interesting with different tones of voices through the presenters.
Features
The features throughout our planned radio show ON20FM has a main theme of confessionals which our audience ring in and confess something they have done which is bad, this gives the audience a chance to win a prize which is done quite a few times in radio shows for example on Hallam FM, this persuades the audience to ring it as they get a chance of winning prizes which shows more advertisement for the radio show. There is also features for example competitions which also a good idea for advertising as our audience would enjoy winning the prizes and persudade them to listen. Summarily like other radio stations they contain a news feature, this is played at the beginning of our show which is to educate our audience on local news, although the purpose is to entertain it features important stuff what can be helpful to the local audience to be informed on.
Also one of our main features being the music which is played in our radio show, this is the main purpose of our target audience tuning in to our radio station to listen to their favourite songs. The use of call ins is also great for radio shows which is used in other radio shows across the industry as it allows the audience to connect with the radio. Requests can be made from the audience for a song of their choice to be heard, which is a suitable idea for my target audience. We also have advert content used in our radio show ONE20 FM, this is to gather funding to help contribute to the local radio station Sheffield Live, it also helps the community with local businesses for example as it grows am audience for them also.
Jingles
We have also featured mulptiple jingles throughout our script to ensure the listeners are familiar with ON20 FM and brings it back to the 'brand'. WE feature a news jingle, a show jingle and a jingle before every song this is to show more entertainment as hearing the same things a lot in a short amount of space can get boring. But by having different jingles they all are short, upbeat and catchy which is great for our target audience of teenagers and young adults who are in to this style of music and tone of voice which is used in our jingle.
News
News featured throughout the beginning of our script in relatable to the target audience. For example one of the main news stories being about the Super tram which is a main link between Sheffield to meadow hall, which is a popular shop amongst our young target audience who are most presumably into shopping. Having local news like that informs our target audience and also it isn't boring news which can sometimes be the case for young adults when listening to radio news. News is featured a lot through Capital and Hallam for example as thy feature the news every half hour to an hour. This is to have a balance of what conventions should be in a radio show and not to make it popular.
Competitions
As well as the other main features of our radio show ONE20 FM, we feature different competitions in our show which contribute to the advertising for our radio, One of the competitions allows the audience to win Tramlines tickets, this relates to our young target audience as Tramlines is a festival in Sheffield which attracts all ages and shows a good atmosphere in Sheffield so everyone would be interested in winning a ticket, another reason is that it bring the audience back to remembering we are a local radio stations as Tramlines is one of the main events in Sheffield done every year and creates a buss around the City.
